Description
This 54,508-square-foot facility provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adolescents. The ground level includes a Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Crisis Response Center (CRC) for immediate mental health support. A colorful ACM canopy adorned with the CHOP logo marks the distinct entrance to the Cedar Avenue Building. The basement features staff areas, including touchdown spaces and break rooms. The 4th and 7th floors house 47 inpatient rooms, divided into three wings to separate age groups and ensure safety. Each wing includes a dedicated nurse station and shared spaces like day/group rooms for therapy and interaction. These floors also contain exam rooms, vitals rooms, seclusion and observation rooms, medication rooms, and soiled workrooms, all tailored to meet patient needs. Large interior spaces provide therapy and play areas, promoting recovery and development. The 8th-floor penthouse houses critical mechanical systems, including four new air handling units for ventilation, a Pressure Relief Valve Station to regulate system pressure, and heat exchanger stations for efficient heat transfer. These systems are vital for maintaining the facility’s infrastructure, enabling staff to focus on delivering high-quality care in a well-supported environment.
