The Special Delivery Unit stands as a groundbreaking achievement, being the world’s inaugural birth facility within a pediatric hospital exclusively crafted to cater to healthy mothers carrying babies with identified birth defects. For infants prenatally diagnosed with such conditions, specialized care is imperative before, during, and after delivery. The SDU serves as a haven, enabling mothers to remain in proximity, while ensuring immediate treatment for the newborns. Updates included new mill-work, painting, flooring, equipment, and furniture. The consolidation of comprehensive care within a singular location is pivotal for the optimal well-being of infants born with intricate congenital conditions.
