This ambitious 12,000 square-foot laboratory renovation unfolded within the confines of a fully operational research facility and vivarium. Amidst this complex undertaking, the unexpected challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, requiring us to collaborate closely with OSHA, governmental agencies, suppliers, and trades to ensure the safety of the work environment and adhere to the project schedule. Within this innovative space, a prominent feature is the expansive, open laboratory that commands attention on one side of the central corridor. Here, a seamless integration of fixed perimeter casework envelops rows of versatile island benches, fostering an environment conducive to cutting-edge research. Across the central corridor, an array of support rooms takes shape, featuring dedicated spaces such as environmental chambers, storage areas, a glass-wash room, flexible labs, and a generously proportioned conference room. This state-of-the-art facility reflects our unwavering commitment to research excellence and safety, even in the face of unforeseen challenges.
