University of Pennsylvania
Sheerr Pool Renovation
Located within the University of Pennsylvania’s Pottruck Health & Fitness Center, this project involved renovating the Sheerr Pool Natatorium, Varsity Swim Team Locker Rooms, and Coaches Offices. The Natatorium received new bleacher seating, an electronic scoreboard, deck and pool tile, acoustical ceilings, lighting, fabric duct sox, and an ADA viewing platform. A full scaffold was built over the pool to access these areas. Upgrades included a stainless-steel gutter, trench drain, ladders, stairs, and a state-of-the-art raisable bulkhead. Concrete work modified the shallow end for NCAA compliance. Locker rooms were outfitted with custom athletic lockers, acoustical ceilings, epoxy floors, and upgraded bathrooms with new tile, partitions, and fixtures. Coaches’ offices and alumni lounges were renovated with new casework and infrastructure updates to mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. The project demanded close coordination among trades and thoughtful integration with the building’s original 1967 structure. With nearby recreation areas remaining open, careful logistics ensured minimal disruption to students and staff.
